Last night on TV3’s 3rd Degree featured Sheldon Drummond of the Forest Owners Association joining the call for an inquiry into forestry. According to Drummond we need:
“An independent inquiry, because we are not happy with our record and we need to find the best practice from overseas. Even though we’re doing all these things within NZ in the industry, we’re looking outside to say, Well who’s done this kind of work before who can add another dimension, help us a little further”.
So what does an inquiry look like? In British Columbia (Canada) they went through this very process for the very same reason – a deteriorating health and safety record driven by fatigue and commercial pressure.
We’ve put the inquiry report up on our website so you can get a better idea of what this means, or you can check out the website of the Office of the Auditor General in British Columbia to see all the documentation.
Please share widely amongst your networks and get as many people as possible interested in this process!
